ResumePal Seeker FAQ

What is ResumePal?

ResumePal is an industry-wide movement to change the way job seekers apply to jobs. Using a coalition of the best companies across all aspects of the online recruiting process, ResumePal creates a common standard for storing rich application data and a way to truly match seekers to jobs.

How does ResumePal address privacy and security?

ResumePal is absolutely committed to protecting the privacy of our users. With ResumePal, you "opt-in" to share your information with a particular company for a job. Unless you use your profile to join a participating job board, your profile will only be shared with those companies where you have submitted your profile. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

How long will it take to fill out my ResumePal profile?

This really depends on how many job experiences you’ve had, and the profession of those experiences. Some professions are relatively narrowly defined, while others can be extremely diverse, taking a little more time to profile. You can expect to spend approximately 10-20 minutes per job experience entered. This time investment will most likely save you a lot of time in the long run, as you’ll be able to apply very quickly to any other company that accepts ResumePal profiles.

Is there a cost to me as a job seeker to use ResumePal?

ResumePal is a free site for job seekers to use. You may create and update your profile free of charge. Usage of ResumePal is subject to the ResumePal Terms of Use.

Do I have to upload my resume to create a profile?

While it is not required that you upload your resume as part of the process, employers are significantly less likely to review and pursue you as a candidate if they can not see the context in which you used the skills in your profile. In addition, if you do upload your resume, we will parse the data to help significantly speed up your profile creation process.

What resume file formats do you support?

Currently we are accepting documents in the following formats: MS Word (.DOC), WordPerfect (.WPD), Rich Text (.RTF), and Plain Text (.TXT), however, a resume must be uploaded in MS Word (.DOC) in order for ResumePal to provide you with a trackable version of it. At this time ResumePal does not support upload of Microsoft Word 2007 (.docx) files. The file must be less than 1MB.

If you have a resume in docx format, you can choose Save As... and save the file using the Office 2003 .doc format. Once your resume is saved in an older version of MS Word, it can be uploaded to our site.

I forgot my password for my ResumePal account. How do I recover my password?

On the signin page, there is a "Forgot your password?" link. Click on this link and enter your email account on the subsequent page and a new password will be generated and emailed to you.

How can I change the email address associated with my completed ResumePal account/profile?

Click on Account Preferences link on the left of your screen. Overwrite the email address you initially provided with your new email address and click 'Save'. The new email address you have entered will be your ResumePal user name going forward and your new primary email address used for email alerts. An email will be mailed to both your prior and new email address for security purposes.

What browsers does ResumePal support?

At this time, ResumePal supports Internet Explorer versions 6.X and 7.X, as well as Firefox 3.0 and above and Safari 3.0 and above. In addition, you will need to enable Javascript and cookies for the ResumePal website to operate properly.
